Only pets give unconditional love

Only pets give unconditional love.
The rest of us need to rise above.
We humans put conditions on our love.
We want to be accepted and understood.

Some of us want to be held.
Some of us want a mind meld.
Some of just want to be able to talk.
Some of us don't think about it.

But I think about it a lot.
I love my pets more than most people.
And they don't understand me at all.
But they love me just the same.
