Poem from the end of the world

We are all coping the best we can.
We do not socialize.
We do not even touch.
We are isolated and distant.

We are on dangerous ground.
Pronouncements are not sound.
If we listen to the President.
Let us all just trust each other.

Protect those you love.
But realize also.
There are others in need.
Try not to be governed by greed.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Where we end we also begin.
But if this is the end of the line.

Lost in the supermarket

I'm lost in the supermarket.
I don't need any special flavor.
But could you do me a  favor.
Don't take all the toilet paper.

I'm lost in the supermarket.
It used to be a pleasure.
People wearing surgical masks.
People afraid of each other.

 I'm lost in the supermarket.
We must all fulfill our basic needs.
We have to care for each other.
Only together can we make it better.

 We are off the map

We are off the map
From what we have ever known.
At least in that, no one is alone.
We still have to find a way to cope.

I am appalled at the President.
Who can only represent.
His own best interests.
Whose words are false and unrepentant.

The nation is in crisis.
We still don't know what the price is.
But we damn sure know what we value.
Some kind of human morals.

But we have a sociopath
Who does not know the math.
Who thinks his sphincter.
Should express his wrath.

There is a pathogen.
He cannot be named.
Destroyed democracy.
He is never to blame.

He is a parasite.
Neither left nor right.
If you disagree with him,
You are a blight.

This is where we are headed?
I would rather be beheaded.
I never believed in democracy more.
We are headed to 1984.
